Millicent
While Millicent is severely tempted to regale you with her extensive performing history, she would like to talk about the performer she is today (This is mostly because her passionate nature can cause her to be quite the long winded story teller). Due to a series of one crazy random happenstance after another Millicent joined the Belles of Bedlam in June 2010, and served as Assistant Director from 2011 to mid 2014. Millicent sings alto (and in some cases mezzo) for the group and in April 2014 picked up the bodhran for the first time and became the group’s trial by fire drummer. She is a slowly budding songwriter. Of what she does, Millicent has this to say : “In my life, performing isn’t a hobby. Whether it be at a colorful festival, noisy pub, fundraiser, sacred ceremony, small room of a private party, with The Belles, a choir, or just me and a microphone: it is joy, pain, growth, laughter, vulnerable, and alive. Performing is one of the life forces, an experience that we freely share with others, that they share back with us. In any capacity it can be powerful.” Millicent finds great satisfaction in writing prose, humanitarianism, environmentalism, and exploration. Like the other Belles she is definitely a nerd and eternal fangirl over a vast amount of subjects.
